Thailand is a beautiful southeast Asian country with a rich culture and history dating back centuries. While the Thai people, in general, benefit from high quality healthcare, GPSA works with the stateless people. Our site is Mae Sot. Mae Sot is close to the border with Myanmar and has many immigrants fleeing oppression or poor economic conditions. Most of the people we serve are stateless, unable to access the Thai healthcare system and, in many cases, unwilling or unable to return to Myanmar. Even when the migrants are legal, they may be treated poorly in the Thai healthcare system due to discrimination. Here, we work to accomplish home visits in some of the mountainous communities (vision, dental screenings), education (hygiene, first aid and CPR, sexual and reproductive health), clinic-based pre-consult (vital signs measurements).
